U.S. health officials on Tuesday gave the final signoff to Pfizer’s kid-size COVID-19 shot.

The Food and Drug Administration already authorized the shots for children ages 5 to 11 — doses just a third of the amount given to teens and adults. But the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends who should receive FDA-cleared vaccines.

The announcement by CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky came only hours after an advisory panel unanimously decided Pfizer’s shots should be opened to the 28 million youngsters in that age group.

Now, Colorado is working on partnerships to get kids the COVID-19 and flu vaccines,

and are planning out more than 100 mobile clinics and events across the state at places you’d expect to see kids.

The state says there 479,895 kids in the 5-11 age group, and they’re hoping to get 50% of them vaccinate in 12 weeks.

Pfizer’s kid shots contain a third of the vaccine dose that’s already use to vaccinate millions of people 12 and older. The 5- to 11-year-olds will receive two shots, three weeks apart. The same schedule as everyone else — but a smaller amount in each shot, using a smaller needle.
